Jaipur: Rajasthan is set to experience a fresh spell of unsettled weather in mid‑October. Meteorologists caution that from 14 to 16 October, a western disturbance will brush the Bikaner, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions, bringing thunderstorms, intense rain and occasional hail.
Rain Showers Anticipated in Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Bikaner
The outlook predicts substantial rain accompanied by strong gusts in Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh on the 14th and 15th. The Bikaner‑Phalodi stretch may also witness intermittent thunderstorms, with scattered hail possible—an occurrence that could endanger standing crops and those recently harvested.
Jaipur and Bharatpur Divisions Remain Under Threat
Weather activity is expected to linger across the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions through the 16th. Rural pockets of Jaipur could see hail on the 15th, while Dausa and its surroundings are likely to receive heavier rainfall. Further west, districts such as Churu and Nagaur should stay vigilant for sudden wind bursts and lightning strikes.
Farmers Express Concern Over Potential Crop Damage
The prospect of rain and hail has raised alarm among growers and market vendors. In the Bikaner division and the Shekhawati region, many fields have already been harvested, yet several crops are nearing maturity and remain exposed. Open‑air grain storage and market yards risk moisture ingress, which could degrade quality and compress farmer incomes.
Advisory for Growers and Traders
Authorities urge farmers and traders to adopt immediate protective measures. Crops and harvested grain left outdoors should be covered with tarpaulins or shifted to sheltered areas where possible. Ensuring proper field drainage is crucial to prevent water‑logging during the anticipated showers.
Weather Outlook Beyond October 16
Forecast models suggest a transition to drier conditions in western Rajasthan after 16 October, while eastern parts of the state are expected to improve from 17 October onward. Until then, residents, farmers and merchants are advised to monitor local alerts and stay prepared for gusty winds, lightning, rain and possible hail.
