New Delhi. In a tense operation just after midnight, Delhi police arrested two individuals linked to a shooting that erupted at a house in Bhajanpura. Both detainees sustained bullet wounds to their legs during the encounter. The law‑enforcement team also seized three semi‑automatic pistols, 18 cartridges and an unregistered motorbike belonging to the pair.

Who were the arrested suspects?

The two men taken into custody are identified as 23‑year‑old Jasim, locally nicknamed “Aloo,” a resident of Welcome, and 23‑year‑old Kaif, who is known as “DJ.”

What triggered the violent clash?

According to official statements, the duo opened fire on officers who attempted to block their movement. Several rounds struck the bullet‑proof vests of the police personnel. In retaliation, the officers returned fire, wounding both suspects and securing their capture.

How the shooting was first reported

The incident unfolded on 2 October at around 02:43 a.m. in Gali No. 16 of Subhash Vihar, North Ghonda, under the jurisdiction of Bhajanpura police station. A resident who stepped onto his balcony recounted that two youths arrived on a scooter, brandishing pistols, firing at him and into the air before speeding away.

The stray bullets shattered the balcony’s glass railings and dented the exterior wall, though no one was injured. A case was lodged under sections pertaining to attempted murder and violations of the Arms Act.

Steps taken by investigators to locate the culprits

A Special Staff team was mobilised to track the offenders. By reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras and gathering information from locals, police learned that the pair intended to ride a motorcycle from Nanaksar to Usmanpur via Third Pushta Road.

Positioned along the suspected route, officers spotted the two men on a bike lacking a number plate at roughly 02:45 a.m. When ordered to stop, the suspects allegedly opened fire, prompting the police response that led to their arrest.

Background information on the accused

During the seizure, investigators recovered three semi‑automatic pistols, 18 rounds of ammunition and the motorcycle used in the incident. A background check on Jasim revealed an existing Arms Act case registered with the Special Cell, whereas Kaif appears to have no prior criminal record.

Both suspects reportedly admitted to taking part in the balcony attack and claimed they were acting on orders from an individual identified as Rashid, alias “Cablewala.” Authorities are now probing the motive behind the firing and whether additional parties were involved in planning or executing the assault.
