Arrest of Alleged Predator
Faridabad police have placed a 40‑year‑old male under custody after linking him to two separate incidents where solitary senior women were allegedly enticed with promises of a ride home.
How the Alleged Attacks Unfolded
Both complaints emerged from the Bhupani police‑station jurisdiction on September 18 and 19. In each case, the victims said a motorcyclist approached, offered a “safe” ride, and then diverted the vehicle toward an isolated stretch of road.
One woman recounted that the suspect made the proposition even while her husband was present, assuring her he would drop her at her doorstep before veering off to a deserted spot where the assault occurred.
Investigation Efforts
Initial review of nearby CCTV footage failed to produce a clear lead. Detectives consequently mobilised their local intelligence network, canvassed the neighbourhood and consulted informants to trace a pattern.
After roughly ten‑to‑fifteen days of intensive field work, a tip from an informant enabled officers to locate the suspect’s hideout. He was apprehended and taken for questioning.
Interrogation and Ongoing Inquiry
During questioning, the accused is reported to have admitted involvement in the two assaults. Investigators are now scrutinising his background to determine whether he is linked to other similar crimes in the area.
The case underscores the urgent need for citizens to report unsolicited transport offers, especially to vulnerable individuals, and highlights the police’s reliance on community intelligence to solve such crimes.
Next Steps
Legal proceedings have commenced, and authorities will continue gathering forensic and testimonial evidence to substantiate the allegations and explore any further connections to the suspect.
