Attempted Abduction at Galleria Market
On September 21, a routine stop at Galleria Market turned into a life‑threatening episode for 23‑year‑old Sahil Arora. After parking his car and stepping into a nearby café, he returned to discover three unknown individuals already inside his vehicle, one of them brandishing a handgun and demanding that Sahil drive them away.
Victim’s Quick Reflexes Thwart the Plot
When the pistol failed to fire, Sahil seized the opportunity, accelerated, and forced the front‑seat assailant to abandon the car. The two occupants in the back seats leapt out as the vehicle sped away, melting into the surrounding traffic.
Moments later a scooter forced Sahil to stop. The remaining gunman fled, leaving the weapon behind. Police later retrieved the pistol from the car during their investigation.
Police Response and Detentions
The following day Sahil reported the incident at Sector‑29 police station. The Crime Branch, Sector‑43, launched an immediate probe and identified five suspects:
- Praveen – resident of Sector‑67, Gurugram
- Sumer Singh – Lakshman Vihar, Gurugram
- Shiv Shankar – Vaidharm Colony, Faridabad
- Aman – Meethapur, Delhi
- Hemant – Meethapur, Delhi
All five individuals were taken into custody while investigators pieced together each person’s alleged role in the kidnapping plan.
Commission Dispute as the Motive
According to ACP Naveen Sharma, the entire episode stems from a property‑commission disagreement. Praveen had assisted Sahil’s father in closing a real‑estate deal, only to watch the transaction be finalized by another party, leaving Praveen unpaid for his expected commission.
Police contend that the financial grievance drove Praveen to collude with Sumer Singh, hoping to coerce Sahil’s father into paying the disputed amount and to halt the subsequent sale.
GPS Tracking and Pre‑Planned Execution
Investigators uncovered that Praveen had previously installed a GPS tracker on Sahil’s vehicle, allowing the conspirators to monitor his movements. The pair allegedly traveled from Nuh carrying the firearm, with Sumer Singh recruiting Shiv Shankar, Aman and Hemant to carry out the operation.
The ultimate aim was to force Sahil’s father into settling the commission claim by using the kidnapping threat as leverage.
Continuing Investigation
Authorities are preparing to present the detained suspects before a court. Further interrogations will focus on the depth of the conspiracy, the origin of the weapon, and the precise involvement of each accused.
