Jaipur. Authorities have lodged an FIR against the proprietor, Anand Sethi, after a massive fire ripped through the Sethi Complex situated in Minhari Ji Ka Katla, Badi Chaupar, Jaipur. The police complaint cites illegal structural extensions, defunct fire‑safety devices, lack of a valid Fire NOC (No‑Objection Certificate), and narrow, obstructed approach routes.

Fire’s Duration and Impact

The blaze ignited on the second floor and smoldered for roughly 13 hours, rapidly engulfing merchandise stored across multiple shops and warehouses. Fire crews were forced into an extended operation to finally bring the flames under control.

Access Challenges for Firefighters

Fire tenders struggled to reach the site because the surrounding lanes were both narrow and blocked. The cramped access compelled firefighters to improvise with temporary ladders and equipment to combat the fire.

Businesses Affected

Among the affected occupants were Satnam Madan Traders, Jitendra/Kamal, Kamal Agarwal, Shailendra Agarwal, Rajesh, Hasan, Ramesh/Rajesh, Rakesh Gupta’s Vimal Hosiery Agency, Chhotumai Purushottam, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Vikas Sharma, and shops numbered 201‑A through 206‑A. Vimal Hosiery Agency alone is estimated to have incurred losses of ₹65–70 lakh, while the valuation of damage to other establishments is still underway.

Investigation Details

The FIR was registered based on a report filed by Sub‑Inspector Narendra, with Station House Officer Rakesh Khalia assigned to lead the probe. Investigators will scrutinise the building’s construction compliance, the status of fire‑safety installations, the existence of a Fire NOC, and other precautionary measures.
