Comprehensive Home Guard Deployment for Durga Puja 2026

In preparation for the upcoming Durga Puja, the Jharkhand police have activated a massive security operation. Between 14 October and 23 October 2026, a total of 6,750 home guards will be stationed at worship sites, major traffic intersections and other crowded locations throughout the state.

Final Touches Across Ranchi and Other Districts

As the festival draws near, municipal authorities in Ranchi and surrounding districts are completing pandal decorations and reinforcing crowd‑control measures. Anticipating a large influx of devotees, senior police officers and administrators have approved extra layers of security to pre‑empt any untoward incidents.

Command Orders and Inter‑Agency Coordination

The Directorate of Home Guards and Fire Services, led by the Director General‑cum‑Inspector General, has issued detailed directives to every district commander. The circular mandates that the prescribed number of home guards remain on standby, ready to be mobilised to senior police officers as operational requirements dictate.

District‑wise Strength Allocation

  • Ranchi: 600 home guards
  • Jamshedpur: 500 home guards
  • Hazaribagh: 500 home guards
  • Giridih: 400 home guards
  • Remaining districts (Garhwa, Latehar, Khunti, Gumla, Chatra, Lohardaga, Simdega, Ramgarh, Koderma, Palamu, Dumka, Sahibganj, Seraikela‑Kharsawan) will receive personnel based on local demand.

This distribution is calibrated to match anticipated crowd densities and the logistical challenges unique to each region.

Youth Squads Bolster the Effort

Alongside the home guards, specially trained youth teams will be deployed at pandals to assist with order‑keeping and guide pilgrims through congested passages. Their involvement is expected to lighten the burden on regular police units and enhance overall crowd management.

Objective: Peaceful, Uninterrupted Celebrations

The overarching goal of the administration is to guarantee that Durga Puja proceeds without disturbance, allowing worshippers to offer prayers to Goddess Durga in a safe and tranquil environment.
