Three‑Day Intensive Campaign to Close Gaps in the Electoral Roll
Between 7 October and 9 October, Jharkhand’s election machinery will run dedicated digitisation camps at polling stations throughout the state. The effort forms a key component of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the rolls and aims to give missed citizens a chance to enrol.
Focus on Adding New Voters
Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has asked District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to ensure the smooth execution of the three‑day operation. Residents who are not yet listed can submit Form 6 at any of the camps. Staff will also prioritize rapid digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 received from Booth Level Officers—Form 6 for new entries, Form 7 for deletions, and Form 8 for corrections or updates.
Statewide Mega Helpdesk Planned for 10 October
After the digitisation push, each polling station will host a BLO‑BLA‑2 meeting‑cum‑mega helpdesk on 10 October. Voters can seek assistance on registration, lodge objections, review notices issued during the revision, and resolve any other roll‑related queries. This is the fourth statewide initiative aimed at demystifying the revision process and addressing voter concerns.
Guaranteeing No Eligible Voter Is Left Out
CEO Kumar stressed that the election apparatus must ensure every eligible Indian citizen appears on the roll. Officers have been instructed to intensify outreach in areas populated by vulnerable or under‑represented groups, providing additional support where required.
Reasons Behind Roll Discrepancies
The chief electoral officer explained that mismatches can arise from enumeration errors, inaccurate mapping in previous revisions, or lingering legacy data issues. The present SIR exercise does not aim to fix every historic mistake; its primary goal is to produce a current, accurate roll for the forthcoming election.
Eligibility Criteria for Inclusion
Applicants must be Indian citizens, have turned 18 on or before 1 October 2026, and normally reside within the jurisdiction of the relevant polling station. Supporting documents will be verified at the time of registration.
Election officials have been directed to speed up the processing and digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 so that applicants receive swift assistance and the roll reflects the latest information. The final roll from this SIR cycle is slated for release on 19 October.
