A Vatican‑City Inspired Pavilion Takes Shape
In the coal‑laden belt of Rajrappa, the Shri Shri Durga Puja Committee is crafting a pandal that mirrors the grandeur of Italy’s Vatican City. Spearheaded by Pankaj Tent House of Ramgarh, more than a dozen seasoned craftsmen are assembling a structure that will soar to approximately 51 feet tall and 70 feet wide. The organisers have allocated close to ₹7.75 lakh to bring this iconic silhouette to life, offering visitors a slice of papal architecture right in Jharkhand.
Fair Attractions and Cultural Programme
Beyond the majestic canopy, the venue will pulse with a host of entertainments. The plan includes roughly ten distinct amusement rides, among them a daring stunt attraction dubbed the “Well of Death.” Food stalls, souvenir booths and a dedicated cultural troupe will keep families and devotees engaged throughout the festivities. The Durga idol for this year is expected to stand six to seven feet high.
Intensified Security Arrangements
Anticipating a massive influx of visitors, the committee is stepping up safety measures with a network of around 60 CCTV cameras monitoring the pandal and its surroundings. Additional police personnel from Rajrappa police station will be on standby to maintain order and respond swiftly to any incidents.
Spiritual Setting
Rajrappa already enjoys a spiritual magnetism thanks to the renowned Maa Chhinnamastika Temple, which draws pilgrims from distant corners during Navratri. This year’s blend of a Vatican‑themed pandal, lively fair, cultural performances and reinforced security is poised to make Durga Puja a memorable highlight for worshippers and tourists alike.
