New Central Allocation Boosts Himachal’s Agriculture

The Government of India has unlocked a fresh sum of ₹64.82 crore to reinforce agricultural initiatives throughout Himachal Pradesh. The funding targets two cornerstone programmes designed to modernise the state’s farm sector.

Allocation Details

Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the centre is contributing ₹28.31 crore. An additional ₹36.51 crore is flowing through the Krishi Unnati Yojana. Combined, these two streams constitute the complete ₹64.82 crore package.

Political Leaders Applaud the Release

Hamirpur MP and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the continued fiscal support. Thakur stressed that the fresh infusion will solidify ongoing infrastructure works and spark new projects aimed at strengthening Himachal’s farm ecosystem.

Planned Utilisation of Funds

The capital will be channelled into a spectrum of activities—from quality seed distribution and irrigation upgrades to farmer‑skill workshops. By fortifying both RKVY and Krishi Unnati Yojana, the state can accelerate scheduled interventions and sustain momentum on existing schemes.

Wider Significance

This disbursement forms part of a broader central strategy to ensure timely financial flow for agriculture‑centric programmes across states. The latest tranche for Himachal underscores the collaborative effort between the Union and the state to keep vital farm initiatives financially robust.
