New Delhi. On Monday, a wave of bomb‑threat emails flooded the inboxes of a number of schools across Delhi, compelling administrators to activate emergency procedures and evacuate campuses.
Alerts affect several institutions
The warnings targeted schools such as Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate and Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Vasant Vihar, along with a few other establishments situated along the Lutyens’ Delhi stretch. Although the messages were sent early in the day, school officials only became aware of them between 11 a.m. and noon.
Swift action by police and fire services
Upon verification, each school promptly notified the police and Delhi Fire Services, triggering their crisis‑response protocols. Pupils and teachers were escorted out of the premises as a safety measure while specialist teams arrived.
Bomb‑disposal units and sniffer dogs on site
Bomb‑detection squads, accompanied by sniffer‑dog teams, descended on the affected campuses. Fire‑department crews were also mobilised; the Delhi Fire Services control room recorded a call regarding the Vasant Vihar school at about 12:30 p.m., dispatching a fire tender and personnel to assist with the evacuation.
Thorough anti‑sabotage inspections were carried out throughout the facilities. At the time of writing, investigators reported that no suspicious devices or materials had been found.
Parents kept informed
Sardar Patel Vidyalaya quickly notified parents that all students had been safely evacuated and that classes would only resume once authorities gave clearance.
The incident echoes a similar wave of bomb‑threat emails received by the same school and a handful of other Delhi institutions roughly two weeks earlier, during the exam period, which also prompted extensive security checks.
Police and security agencies continue to analyse the latest emails and trace their source, while schools across the city stay on heightened vigilance.
