Tragic Late‑Night Collision Claims Life of Indore Businessman
On a Sunday night in the Aerodrome police‑station area of Indore, 44‑year‑old Kamal Vagela lost his life after his car struck a temporary divider set up for ongoing metro construction. He was driving home along Mahavir Krishna Avenue when the accident occurred.
Police reports indicate that Kamal was travelling with several companions. After his friends alighted at various points, he continued alone toward his house. Moments later, his vehicle slammed into the construction barrier positioned close to his home. Bystanders who witnessed the crash promptly called emergency services, and Kamal was rushed to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital, where he was later declared dead despite intensive medical efforts.
Kamal, the son of Durgashankar Vagela, operated a hair‑cosmetics business and leaves behind a grieving wife, two daughters and a son.
Family Raises Concerns Over Inadequate Safety Measures
In the aftermath, Kamal’s relatives have lodged serious complaints about the apparent lack of proper warning signage around the metro work zone. They contend that the temporary divider was installed without clear markings or alerts for motorists, creating a blind spot that likely contributed to the fatal crash.
"We were not warned about any barrier or change in traffic flow. The authorities must review the safety protocols and ensure such tragedies never repeat," said a family spokesperson.
The family is now demanding a comprehensive explanation of the safety procedures in place at the site and urging officials to reevaluate traffic management in the vicinity.
Police Initiate Inquiry and Examine CCTV Evidence
Law enforcement has opened a formal investigation to piece together the sequence of events leading to the collision. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras to ascertain how the vehicle approached the divider and whether any other factors played a role.
Investigators are also inspecting the road surface, barrier placement, and overall layout of the construction zone. A detailed report will be released once all video material, on‑site examinations, and witness statements have been thoroughly analyzed.
- Review of traffic‑control signage at metro construction sites.
- Assessment of barrier visibility and driver warning systems.
- Recommendations for improving safety protocols to prevent future accidents.
