A short stop spirals into a night‑time robbery
During the early hours of the day, Vivek and his relatives pulled over near Rai to shake off fatigue. After locking the vehicle, they settled inside for a quick nap, oblivious to the fact that a burglary was already in progress.
How the burglary unfolded
In the dim pre‑dawn light, Vivek awoke to see a stranger standing beside the car, rifling through the locked doors. The intruder snatched a bag, a laptop, a smartphone, earbuds, chargers and several other personal items. Before Vivek could react, the suspect fled, scaling a metal railing and joining two accomplices waiting on a motorcycle across the road.
The getaway on two wheels
The trio sped away on the motorcycle, leaving the family shocked and their belongings gone. Vivek estimated the total loss at roughly ₹2.25 lakh.
Police response and ongoing probe
Vivek, a resident of Maruti Kunj, lodged a formal FIR with Rai police, urging swift recovery of the stolen goods and arrest of the culprits. Authorities have registered the case and are now reviewing witness statements, CCTV footage and any leads that could reveal the thieves’ identities and escape route.
Investigators stressed the need for heightened vigilance during roadside stops, especially in isolated stretches, and reminded motorists to double‑check that their vehicles are securely locked before taking a break.
