October’s Early Heat Still Holds On
Even though October has begun, Haryana continues to wrestle with summer‑type temperatures. Daytime highs sit a few degrees above the seasonal average, and the sun remains intense over large parts of the region.
Data from the Agricultural Meteorology Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) in Hisar shows that the last four‑to‑five days have been dominated by dry westerly winds, pushing daytime highs to 3‑4 °C above normal and night‑time lows to 2‑3 °C higher than usual.
Two Western Disturbances Expected Oct 7‑12
Meteorologists now foresee a shift as two consecutive western disturbances traverse the region between 7 and 12 October. These systems are expected to usher in cloud cover, thunderstorms, rain showers and gusty winds across several districts.
First Disturbance – Effects Begin Oct 7
The first system is slated to reach the Himalayan foothills on 7 October, with its outer bands touching Haryana that night. Northern districts may experience thunderstorms, strong gusts and light rain from 7‑9 October, while parts of the south‑west could also see scattered showers.
The precipitation should shave a few degrees off the thermometer, offering a brief respite from the persistent heat.
Second Disturbance – Arrival Around Oct 9
A second western disturbance is projected to become active near 9 October. Its influence is expected to last from 10‑12 October, bringing partly cloudy skies, renewed wind bursts and additional rainfall across several locales.
The added moisture and wind will help curb the daytime highs that have dominated the past week.
Post‑Rain Cool Breeze
Once the twin systems move out, north‑westerly winds are likely to sweep the state, driving down both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Residents can anticipate a noticeable drop in heat and humidity as the cooler air settles in.
