Dhanapur, Chandauli. In the late hours of Wednesday, a house that appeared well‑secured in Birna village was violently ransacked. Unknown intruders breached the premises and made off with roughly ₹1.60 lakh in cash together with a handful of gold ornaments.

The property belongs to Bhanu Maurya. The second floor is still under construction, so the family continues to reside in their previous home while the new structure remains locked each night.

Following their usual routine, the family locked the fresh house before retiring to the older one. Somewhere during the night, the locked doors were forced open, and the thieves rummaged through the rooms.

Cash and Gold Jewellery Stolen

When the household returned on Thursday morning, they discovered displaced furniture and items scattered across the floor. A swift inventory confirmed that ₹1.60 lakh in cash had vanished, along with a gold chain, a ring and several other pieces of jewellery.

The victims reported the incident immediately to the local police station (PRV). Officers arrived swiftly, cordoned off the area and began collecting forensic evidence.

Police Examine Surveillance Video

Investigators reviewed the CCTV cameras surrounding the property. Preliminary analysis shows that the break‑in was captured on film, and the footage is now being examined to identify the perpetrators.

Authorities are also looking into additional clues to determine how the burglars bypassed the locked doors and whether they possessed prior knowledge of the house’s temporary vacancy.

Residents Demand Heightened Security

The incident has amplified anxiety among neighbouring families, who say similar thefts have been reported in recent weeks. Villagers are urging the police to increase night patrols and bolster overall security in the area.

Local leaders have appealed for stronger preventive measures, especially during periods when homes are unoccupied, to deter future break‑ins.

Police continue their investigation, working to trace the suspects and recover the stolen cash and jewellery.
