Details of the Complaint
At the Bhargama police outpost in Araria district, a 22‑year‑old woman from Banka submitted a formal FIR against Mohammad Rabban, who resides in Ward 7 of Dhaneshwari panchayat. She claims Rabban hid his real identity and continuously took money from her throughout a six‑year romantic involvement.
How the Couple Met
According to the complainant, she lived with her family in Delhi’s bustling Sabzi Mandi market for several years. It was there she met Rabban, who introduced himself as “Sonu.” The two allegedly sustained a relationship that lasted nearly six years.
Marriage Proposal Triggers Dispute
When the woman requested marriage, Rabban allegedly summoned her to his native village. Accompanied by her mother and brother, she traveled to Dhaneshwari panchayat, only to discover that a clash between the two families erupted, putting an end to any wedding plans.
Allegations of Financial Exploitation
The petitioner further asserts that Rabban extracted cash from her on several occasions during the course of their relationship. After the marriage proposal fell through, she approached the police seeking the return of her money and filing a fraud complaint.
Attempts at Community Mediation
Local elders tried to intervene and negotiate a settlement, but the discussions broke down. Consequently, the woman lodged a written application with Bhargama police outlining her grievances.
Current Police Investigation
Bhargama Station House Officer Rajesh Kumar confirmed receipt of the FIR and said the case is under review. He noted that, so far, no concrete proof of monetary fraud has been produced. Authorities will cross‑verify the claims with the evidence on hand before deciding on any further legal steps.
