Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed a gathering at the Himalayan Cultural Centre in Neembuwala on Thursday, launching a new civil‑services coaching initiative specially designed for persons with disabilities. The programme, unveiled on the International Day of Older Persons, also honoured 23 senior citizens for their exemplary contributions across diverse fields.

The event recognised five young talents who secured top positions in essay and painting competitions, presenting them with certificates and mementos.

₹147.34 Crore Pension Disbursed in a Single Click

Through an automated payment portal, the chief minister released September’s pension instalment, reaching 9,93,886 beneficiaries with a total outlay of ₹147 crore 34 lakh 53 thousand.

During the ceremony, Dhami also took a pledge to strengthen senior‑citizen welfare and planted a tree as part of the government’s greening drive.

Senior Citizens: The Family’s Protective Shield

Addressing the audience, Dhami extended heartfelt wishes to the elders, emphasizing their role as the “protective shield” of households. He highlighted how seniors nurture values, discipline and emotional bonds, thereby anchoring the family structure.

“Our elders are the cornerstone of societal harmony; their wisdom and care safeguard generations,” the chief minister remarked.

He concluded by urging continued support for both the ageing population and aspiring civil‑service candidates with disabilities, affirming the government’s commitment to inclusive growth.
