The victim, identified as New Colony resident Narendra Bhadana, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby government hospital. After filing a statement, New Colony police quickly tracked down and arrested a suspect later that same night.
Victim Was Heading Home After Completing His Shift
Police records show that Bhadana works as a milk supplier, routinely delivering milk and collecting cash from customers in the Sector‑7 Market area. On the evening of the attack he had just finished his deliveries and was carrying the day's cash earnings – approximately ₹12,000 – when he set off for home.
While navigating a relatively isolated stretch of road, a young man stopped his vehicle. The encounter turned violent when the assailant brandished a knife and struck Bhadana in the chest and abdomen. Despite trying to fend off the attacker and seize his wrist, Bhadana was overpowered and the perpetrator fled with the cash‑filled bag.
Injured Vendor Found on the Roadside
After the assault, Bhadana collapsed on the road, bleeding heavily. Passersby who saw him called the police, who arrived promptly and arranged for his transport to the government hospital. Medical staff admitted him for treatment of his wounds.
Police later visited the hospital to record Bhadana’s statement. His detailed account gave investigators a clear timeline of events and helped them identify the alleged attacker.
Suspect Arrested Within Hours
Acting on the information provided, New Colony police launched a rapid search operation. The suspect was identified as Harpreet Singh, also known as “Bobby,” a resident of Krishna Colony. Officers apprehended him later that night and took him into custody for questioning.
