Narkatiaganj: Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 35‑year‑old married woman whose body was discovered under suspicious circumstances in a rented house at Prakashnagar Ward 11. The deceased, identified as Gudiya Patel, was found with visible marks around her neck.
Gudiya had been living apart from her husband for almost eight years; her spouse is said to be residing in Nepal. She recently relocated to a rented accommodation in the Prakashnagar locality.
According to family members, Ashish Jaiswal, also known as Siku and a resident of Ward 1, had been a regular visitor to Gudiya’s home for the past three‑four years. Both her mother, Anjani Devi, and sister, Varsha Devi, accuse Jaiswal of strangling Gudiya to death.
Relatives also revealed that Gudiya had a heated argument with Jaiswal roughly four days before the incident and had informed her maternal family about the dispute.
On the night of the tragedy, Gudiya’s nine‑year‑old son was staying with his maternal grandmother, leaving her alone in the house. Her lifeless body was discovered later that evening.
Police arrived at the scene after receiving a tip‑off and have begun a thorough examination of the circumstances. SDPO IPS Prasanna Kumar MV stated that the case is being investigated from every possible angle, and further action will depend on the post‑mortem report and any additional evidence that emerges.
